Well, my fantasy novel now has a sequel in the works! My characters, and the new ones they have met, have really been traveling down some fun roads with this one! So much has happened and still the plot develops. I'm starting to think that this might become a trilogy or more!
I've thought about putting the first book of my fantasy series on Wattpad, but something keeps telling me to hold on to it for a little while longer. I can't explain it what it is making me wait, but it feels as though maybe opportunity is coming.
Now, let's talk about the wolves. I hadn't ever really thought about writing a wolf fantasy book before. I've read plenty (Hello Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series), but the Fae have always called to me to write their stories. That is until a job posting on Indeed popped up.
Getting frustrated with my teaching career, I decided to explore job postings for writers one day. There were two looking for fantasy writers, so I applied just to see what would happen. I opened my email a day or so later and found an email from one of the companies hiring fantasy authors! The email asked me to write a first chapter for a wolf adult fantasy romance, so I took a deep breath and let my imagination do its thing.
Characters quickly introduced themselves and their city they called home. Before I knew it, I had a first chapter that I was in love with! I sent it in to the company, and they loved it as well asking me to continue on to the next phase of the interview process. Long story short, I did not complete that next step because it became clear that the job was to basically fill in details for a basic plot line that was already written never allowing you to really get creative, and in addition to that, you would never be given credit for your writing because you essentially were becoming a ghostwriter. I let them know that I was no longer interested in the position wanting to be able to craft my own stories and use my own name. That may be the harder way to achieve success as a writer, but it was what my heart was telling me to do.
However, I couldn't walk away from my wolves. I am currently drafting a whole novel spawned from that first chapter I wrote for the interview and am loving every minute I spend with these new characters! This one might make its way to Wattpad, so be on the lookout!
